Fiona Nash, the former Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development is to be the Trangie Australia Day Ambassador.
Celebrations will take place at the Goan Waterhole at 6pm on the evening of Australia Day on Saturday 26 January.
“Known for her political contributions to regional Australia, we are very excited to welcome Fiona Nash to Trangie and show her how the locals like to celebrate our national day,” said Cr Craig Davies, Mayor of Narromine Shire Council.
“During her political career, her ministerial appointments included Assistant Minister for Health, Minister for Rural Health, Minister for Regional Development, Minister for Regional Communications and Minister for Local Government and Territories.”
“We invite the community to venture out to Trangie and visit the Goan Waterhole in Argonauts Park at 6pm, for a free sausage sizzle,” said Cr Davies.
“If the weather is inclement, the celebrations will take place at the Trangie USMC,” he said.
While Australia Day means different things to different people, it is a day that welcomes everyone to reflect on their Australian experience – their past, present and future. On Australia Day, everyone showcases these personal snapshots to celebrate all the stories that make our country great.
The night promises to be a great success with activities that the whole family can enjoy including live music.
To add to the Australia Day celebrations, Narromine Shire Council will be funding pool entry at both Narromine and Trangie Pools to all patrons between 11am and 3pm on Australia Day, Saturday 26 January.
“Australia Day is an opportunity for our community to come together in the spirit of friendship and harmony, showcasing the unique and diverse culture that makes us Australian,” said Cr Davies.
“I would like to encourage everyone from the Trangie community to come down to Goan Waterhole and be part of our special celebrations this Australia Day,” he said.
