July 1 saw the start of a new era in waste management in the Narromine Shire Council Area with the new Food and Garden Waste Service commencing.
Residents who have received the new lime-green lidded bin and kitchen caddy will be able to dispose of their food scraps and organic garden waste in a much more environmentally-friendly way.
As part of the service, Council has supplied a new 240L lime-green lidded bin, kitchen caddy and roll of compostable liners to help residents divert their organic waste away from landfill.
Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “with your help, Council has rolled out more than 1,900 new green lidded Food and Garden bins across the Shire.”
“If you currently receive the two bin service (red and yellow bins) and have not received your green lidded bin, please contact Council as soon as possible to arrange for your bin to be delivered.”
“The new kerbside bin collections will commence this week and will continue to be collected weekly with your red lidded bin” she said.
If you would like more information on what can go in each bin or how to use your kitchen caddy and liner visit https://www.narromine.nsw.gov.au/residents/waste-management-service
This project was supported by the Environmental Trust as part of the NSW EPA's Waste Less Recycle More initiative, funded from the waste levy.
