Local community members, Ginni Brown, Kerry Roberts and Kelli Piddington have been working to establish Narromine’s very own Parkrun. With plans well underway the group are now calling for a ground director and additional volunteers to run the weekly event.
The establishment committee have identified Narromine Wetlands as the ideal location for the 5km Parkrun.
Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “Parkrun could start in Narromine in a matter of weeks, however as a community run event your help is now needed”
“Parkrun requires a community leader who can take the time to drive the event forward”
“Without the additional community support this event will not get off the ground” she said.
Parkrun is a not-for-profit community event taking place every Saturday morning, all around the world. The event encourages people of all abilities to take part in a free 5km timed run in a relaxed environment with the rest of their community.
The establishment committee has been successful in securing sponsorship from Narromine Shire Council, Beat the Breakdown, Narromine Netball Club, Narromine RUFC Inc, Narromine Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, Narromine Car Club, Narromine Little Athletics, Narromine Jets RLFC, Boarding Schools Expo and Narromine Pharmacy to get started.
