Narromine Sports and Fitness Centre going strong

Narromine Sports and Fitness Centre is going from strength to strength following the recent upgrades and implementation of a number of sports and fitness programs.

In December 2017, Council employed the Sports and Recreation Development Officer to assist in building the relationships between Council and sporting groups as well as introducing sports, fitness and development programs in the region.

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “during 2017/2018 Council invested $200,000 into upgrades at the Narromine Sports and Fitness Centre through the Stronger Country Communities Grant Funding stream”

“The new upgrades have seen an increase in attendance from locals as well as an increase in programs being hosted by Council”

“The Community Strategic Plan highlights the need to provide a safe, active and heathy community including the revitalisation of the Sports and Fitness Centre into an accessible, affordable multi-purpose centre” she said.

Programs that have recently been implemented include;

Council is very passionate about providing the community with varying sports and fitness programs for all ages however at times participation has been particularly low. Unfortunately without the support of the community, it will become more difficult to run the programs.
