Trees donated to Taronga Western Plains Zoo

Narromine Shire Council has commenced work on the tree removal in Dandaloo Street, Narromine this week with around 2 semi-trailer loads of tree limbs and foliage to be donated to the Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

The tree limbs, branches and foliage from the trees being removed was identified as suitable for animals including rhinos and elephants to snack on, confirming the ability to donate.

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager Jane Redden said “this is the first time Council has been able to donate trees to the Taronga Western Plains Zoo.”

“The remaining trees will be mulched and used across the Shire in gardens.”

In addition to the removal of trees Council will be commencing shoulder and rehabilitation works to the surrounding footpaths and bitumen.

Work is estimated to take up to three weeks with the replanting of new suitable advanced street trees to commence over the next two months.
