What goes in the bin?

Narromine Shire Council wishes to advise residents that from mid-May to end of June new bins will be delivered to residents within the Narromine Shire area, currently receiving a kerb side waste collection.

A recent community survey conducted highlighted that the community was generally unaware of what can be put in the new lime green food organics and garden organics waste bin.

Narrromine Shire Councils General Manager, Jane Redden said “most people were aware that vegetable scraps and lawn clippings could go in but were not aware that meat and fish scraps, used paper and cardboard, animal manure and wood garden material can also go in the bin.”

“Residents should know that used pizza boxes, tissues and paper towel can also go in the new bin.”

“The new bins will help reduce the amount of waste being put into landfill” she said.

An information pack, kitchen caddy and kitchen caddy liners are being delivered with the new bin. Please refer to this pack for more details about how to use the new service.

Residents are reminded NOT to put the new lime green lidded waste bin out for collection prior to 1 July 2018.
