Drought Relief Water
Household water assistance available for farmers
Eligible farms within the Narromine LGA are now able to collect up to 10,000 litres of free potable water monthly from either Narromine or Trangie Standpipe Stations.
To apply for the water allocations, eligible farmers will need to complete the ‘Application for Drought Relief Domestic Drinking Water Form’ below. Once the form is completed please return to Council’s Customer Service and Payments Centre where an Avdata Key will be distributed (note there is a $30 refundable charge for the key).
Eligible farmers will need to identify if they will be collecting water from either Narromine or Trangie Standpipe Stations. A separate key is required meaning you are unable to collect from both with the same Avdata Key.
Council will be monitoring the water usage to ensure water levels remain sufficient for town supply.
Currently both Narromine and Trangie are experiencing lower than normal levels in their bores which, if the current drought conditions continue into Summer, could lead to higher water restrictions.
While this highlights the issues associated with a sustainable water supply in both Narromine and Trangie, there is still capacity to assist those most drought affected, with the correct management of the process.
Eligible farmers receiving the free water allocations are reminded that water transport is not included in the program and that Council is not responsible for the water quality once the water has left the standpipe.
