Free Green waste trailer to cease

Council resolved, at its September meeting, to cease the free green waste trailer service previously offered in the Narromine Shire.

In 2018, Council introduced the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) bin service which enables residents to put organic material such as lawn clippings and green waste into the supplied bin for a weekly pick up.

Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “as Council now provides a weekly FOGO pick up it is timely that we remove this free service to the community”

“By removing this service, it will reduce the amount of material entering landfills operated by Council, as the material placed in the FOGO bin is transported to Dubbo for processing”

“With the introduction of the FOGO service indicators show a 28% reduction in the use of the green waste trailer”

The green waste trailer will cease from 1 November 2019.
