Tomorrow’s upcoming Sorry Day event in Narromine hopes to help members of the Stolen General heal, while providing a cultural experience to the wider community of the Narromine Shire.
” National Sorry Day is a day for Council to acknowledge the strength of the Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect how we all can participate in the healing process,” said Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager Mrs Jane Redden.
Council together with Narromine and Trangie Local Aboriginal Lands Councils will mark National Sorry Day with a morning tea commencing at 10.30 am. The event will include guest speaker Wiradjuri woman Grace Toomey from Dubbo.
An indigenous art exhibition will also feature and will be open to the public from Midday until 2.00 pm on Thursday 26 May at the Narromine Sports and Fitness Centre.
Mrs Redden added, events like Sorry Day are important to keep the conversation going as the ‘journey towards healing’ continues.
National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May until 3 June 2022.
