Trangie Waste Management Facility Transition Process
TRANGIE WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY (Landfill) is Transitioning to a Transfer Station
Narromine Shire Council is investing in the future of waste management for our community. With funding support from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), the existing Trangie Landfill will be upgraded to a modern transfer station. This project is part of a broader effort across NSW to reduce the number of active landfill sites, improve environmental outcomes and keep our region clean and safe for future generations.
PROJECT TIMELINE
- Works Commence: September 2025
- Expected Completion: June 2027
During this time, the site will remain open, and Council will keep residents informed of progress.
WHAT WILL CHANGE?
- Waste Handling: Instead of burying material onsite, waste will be collected in secure bins and transported to Narromine for disposal.
- Cleaner, Safer Site: A transfer station reduces windblown litter, pests, and odours while creating a tidier, more efficient space.
WHAT WILL STAY THE SAME?
- Operating Hours: No change.
- Disposal Fees: No change.
- Materials Accepted: Residents can still dispose of the same types of household, green and bulky waste as they do now, as shown in the table below.
