Community Consultation - Updated Flood Study
Updated Flood Study
Narromine Shire Council is calling on residents and business owners to help shape the future of flood planning, with community consultation now underway as part of an updated Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan.
This study will improve our understanding of flooding across Narromine by incorporating updated Macquarie River flood data, while also examining local stormwater flooding resulting from heavy rainfall within the township
The study is being undertaken by Lyall & Associates Consulting Water Engineers and will help guide future flood management, emergency planning and land use decisions across Narromine.
As part of the consultation, every residential and business property within the Narromine township and CBD will receive a flood questionnaire in the mail over the coming weeks. Council is encouraging everyone to complete the survey and share their local knowledge and experiences.
Community feedback is one of the most valuable parts of this study.
To provide your feedback residents can complete the survey at: https://bit.ly/4pb674A
Completed surveys are to submitted by Friday, 7 August 2026. All responses will remain confidential with Lyall & Associates and will be used solely for the purposes of the study.
Council also invites the community to attend a Floodplain Risk Management Community Information Session at the Narromine Shire Council Chambers on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, commencing at 5.30pm.
The session will be presented by Principal Water Engineer Scott Button from Lyall & Associates Consulting Water Engineers and will provide an overview of previous flood studies, explain the scope of the current review and provide an opportunity for residents and business owners to ask questions and provide input into the process.
Council encourages everyone with an interest in Narromine's future flood resilience to get involved, complete the survey and attend the information session.
