Necessary reservoir inspection and cleaning from Monday 6 April

Residents are advised that Council will be carrying out necessary inspections, condition assessments and cleaning of all of our drinking water reservoirs in both Narromine and Trangie from Monday 6 April for approximately 3 weeks.

To ensure the safety of divers, it is necessary that the water level in the reservoirs be reduced to 18m (75%) which may decreased water pressure in some areas.

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “these works are part of our proactive maintenance programs”

“The cleaning process includes comprehensive reservoir cleaning and condition assessments, followed by a mains reticulation flushing process to remove impurities from the reticulation system”

“There is a possibility that this process could effect residents through a reduction in water pressure, aerated water and slight water discolouration” she said.

The scheduled works will assist in improving the water quality in both Narromine and Trangie for the future.
